We grabbed a little hatchling Red Eared Slider out of a pond last year in Florida with the intent to release him in a larger area, as his brothers and sisters and cousins and grandparents were taking over the pond! He ended up staying with us through the winter, and we were grateful for the opportunity to release him. The discovery of a handicapped mature Red Eared Slider in a quiet lake canal led us to believe he certainly would not suffer for being released in the area. All in all, he traveled about 1,800 miles, from Florida to Kentucky and then back to Florida!
